HOW CHAPTER WAS NAMED

At the National Board of Management meeting of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution held on July 2, 2002, the Kentucky State Regent requested the Providence, Kentucky chapter's name be officially changed from Robert Howson Hooe to Lieutenant Robert Howson Hooe. This is reflected in the Report of the Organizing Secretary General.

Robert Howson Hooe was a Revolutionary War officer in the Virginia Line. Hooe was born in Stafford County, Virginia, on November 22, 1748. After the end of the war, Hooe served as a magistrate of Prince William County, Virginia. He died at Prince William County, Virginia on October 13, 1833.
