HART CHAPTER
WINCHESTER, KENTUCKY
The Hart Chapter was named in honor of Captain Nathaniel Hart and his sons.
Nathaniel Hart and his brothers, David and Thomas, Junior, were proprietors of the Transylvania Purchase.
Captain Hart was a leader in opening Kentucky for settlement by helping to establish Ft. Boonesborough.
This station played a vital part in the defense of Kentucky during the American Revolution.
Susannah, daughter of Nathaniel Hart and his wife Susannah Rice, married Isaac Shelby, who later became Kentucky's first Governor.
The Hart Chapter was organized
