ORIGIN OF CHAPTER NAME
This chapter and county are named in the honor of frontiersman Daniel Boone. It was Boone, while acting as an agent of the Transylvania Company for Colonel Richard Henderson in March, 1775, who came to the Great Meadow with a party of thirty settlers. The group began clearing of the Wilderness Road for others to follow and established a settlement at Boonesborough in April of that year.
