Ambrose Meador Chapter

ORIGIN OF CHAPTER NAME

The Ambrose Meador Chapter was organized by Lottie Wilson Brandy, the great-great-great-granddaughter of Ambrose Meador. The second year of the chapter, Lottie continued to recruit members to the chapter and doubled the membership. This almost unheard of feat at the National level caused the President General to issue an invitation to Lottie to attend Continental Congress and be an honored guest at one of the meetings.

Ambrose Meador was born about 1730 in Essex County, Virginia. When residents of Bedford County were called upon to assist in the fight for independence from British tyranny, Meador furnished supplies to the Virginia Line of Continental Army on numerous occasions.

Meador died in Bedford County before September 1795. Many of his heirs settled on the frontier at Breckinridge County, Kentucky.
